In this option, the skirting board will be delivered in its raw Moisture Resistant (MR) MDF state, without any prior coatings or finishes. Before installation, it will need to undergo a complete finishing process on-site. This involves the following steps:
- Priming: The first step is to apply a primer to the raw MDF surface to seal it and create a suitable base for the subsequent layers of paint.
- Sanding: After the primer has dried, a light sanding may be necessary to smooth the surface and ensure a flawless finish.
- Undercoating: Next, an undercoat is applied to further protect the MDF and provide a solid foundation for the final topcoat.
- Topcoat: Finally, a topcoat is applied in the color or finish of your choice, providing the desired aesthetic and protection.
This process allows for full customization but requires additional work and preparation on-site to achieve a high-quality finish.
In this option, the skirting board undergoes a more advanced finishing process before being delivered, making it easier to prepare for final installation. The steps include:
- Machining and Sanding: The skirting board is first carefully machined to its precise shape and dimensions. It is then sanded to create a smooth, clean surface, ready for the priming stage.
- Priming: The skirting board is treated with a high-quality, water-based primer that ensures even coverage. This initial coat seals the MDF and prepares the surface for further treatment, helping to protect the material from moisture.
- De-nibbing: After the primer has dried, the board is passed through our advanced in-house 5-head sanding machine, which de-nibs the surface. This process removes any raised fibers, ensuring a smooth, professional finish on both the sides and the detailed profile of the skirting board.
- On-Site Preparation: Although the skirting board arrives primed and smooth, it will still require some additional work on-site. An undercoat should be applied to further protect and enhance the primed surface. After the undercoat, a light sanding may be necessary to maintain the smooth finish before the final topcoat is applied.
This option saves time in the finishing process, delivering a well-prepared surface that requires less effort on-site while still allowing for customization with your chosen topcoat.
This option provides the most thorough preparation before delivery, ensuring the skirting board is nearly ready for installation and finishing with minimal on-site work. The process includes the following detailed steps:
- Machining and Sanding: The skirting board is first machined to its exact profile and dimensions, ensuring precision in its shape. It is then sanded to remove any roughness, creating a smooth base for the priming process.
- Priming: The skirting board receives a high-quality, water-based primer that is applied evenly across its surface. This primer seals the MDF and provides an excellent base layer to enhance durability and adhesion for subsequent coats.
- De-nibbing: Once the primer has dried, the board is passed through our state-of-the-art 5-head sanding machine. This de-nibbing process removes any raised fibers, resulting in a smooth, professional finish on both the sides and detailed profile of the skirting board.
- Undercoating: After de-nibbing, the skirting board receives a water-based white undercoat, which adds an additional layer of protection and prepares the surface for the final topcoat. This undercoat further seals the MDF and enhances the board's durability.
- Final Sanding: Once the undercoat has fully dried, the skirting board goes through our 5-head sander again. This ensures the surface is perfectly smooth and ready for the topcoat, achieving the highest quality finish possible.
- Final Quality Control & Dispatch: Before leaving our factory, each skirting board undergoes a thorough quality control inspection to ensure it meets our exacting standards. It is then carefully packed and prepared for dispatch.
This option provides a skirting board that arrives fully undercoated and ready for its final topcoat. It significantly reduces on-site preparation time and ensures a smooth, high-quality finish, making it the most efficient and convenient choice for quick installation and professional results.
